As mobile users proliferate, there is a clear correlation between mobile ownership and active usage – indicating the importance of mobiles as a facilitator for social networking across all of the largest social platforms.
As per a study for GlobalWebIndex, it can be seen that the usage patterns vary depending on which mobile operating system is being used. Compared to the overall internet audience, iOS users lead for Facebook – with 58 per cent being active members. The same pattern is evident for Twitter, where the iOS group is nearly 10 per cent ahead of the average. For Google+, meanwhile, it’s Android users who are the most engaged.
