Telecoms program enables Myanmar women to run their own small business

Qatari telecommunications brand Ooredoo unveiled an initiative giving women in Myanmar the opportunity to sell prepaid cellphone airtime to their community. It is an innovative new partnership with the Cherie Blair Foundation to extend the benefits of mobile technology to underserved communities and support women's entrepreneurship in Myanmar. Each participant is offered small business training, and supplied with a start-up kit that includes a cellphone, promotional content, and an operating manual. Ooredoo plans to train 30,000 women by 2016.
A great initiative that brings tangible benefits to the community and in turn delivers direct sales to Ooredoo. Win-win!
